I know I'm heading off on vacation - but this was a most interesting quote I came across: A VC: VC Cliché of the Week : "The result of all this is that they end up using the worst possible management technique, 'management by blackberry.' Everything becomes about rapid-fire byte size morsels, on-the-run, not tons of hard work and calm, thoughtful, reasoned discussion and analysis." You know, it must be the male thing of never asking for directions. I was browsing around the Internet during my sorjourn from the Gainful Employment Company and I ran across The Urban Refugee Blog on his battle with UPS, trying to get his package delivered to his home in Kirriemuir, AB in the Eastern part of Alberta, from a US company. To wit: I phoned again today and got a customer service rep with more than two brain cells to rub together. It turns out that the shipment was sent out using my mailing address (P.O. box). Since UPS isnÂ’t equipped to deal with rural customers, it looks like the people responsible for routing just decided it was easier to bounce it to a different routing center than to pick up the f****g phone to ask me for an alternate delivery address. As someone who has always been interested in Media and the Web - this Web video does bring a great scary preview for the concept of "The Long Tail" that I first heard of in 1994 UPDATE: I removed this video - not because of any pressure from some group - but due to the fact it automatically started when my page was served. That was a boo-boo on my part - but the video is still over at LULU - just follow the links below I came across it on the LULU.TV site - While updating my LULU account for some new projects coming out.
