Why I'm doing these changes Many writers use a pen name instead of their real name for different reasons. Some want to keep their privacy, some want to avoid being confused with other authors, and some want to create a distinct image for their readers. I chose a pen name for my writing career because I wanted more room and flexibility in my creative expression. My real name is Coleman Mark Cooper , but I will be writing under the name Mark Coleman.  Here are some of the advantages of using a pen name: It gives me more power over my brand and image. I can choose a pen name that matches my personality and writing style.  It allows me to try different genres and styles. I want to include more than one type of writing or one audience.
