It’s not that 24/7 news is making Canadians and Americans more opinionated and combative. That is the result of rapacious government expansion. If government is going to intrude into our living rooms, bathrooms, work cubicles and cars, tell us what to listen to and what to watch, eat and say, how to raise our kids, and when and where to indulge our petty vices, we are going to push back when we don’t like who is elected or who is setting policy and writing regulations.
